District Theatres is a movie experience based out of Webster, TX with reserved seating and a menu of gourmet food and drinks. District Theatres uses LRS’ guest pagers to make dining efficient for moviegoers. Guests can visit a modern concession stand that offers a made-from-scratch menu. Upon ordering, the cashier gives guests a pager so they can relax in the lounge or go to their seats knowing they will be notified when food is ready.

Challenge

“At District Theatres we imagined the service experience differently,” said Jason Ostrow, VP of Development at District Theatres. “Some guests want to enjoy the movie experience without distractions like servers walking through the aisles, but they still want to be able to get real food. LRS pagers allow us to create a hybrid experience where guests have fewer disruptions.”

LRS’ paging system integrates seamlessly with District Theatre’s point-of-sale system called Ready Theater Systems. “The cashier can easily flow through the process,” said Ostrow. “As soon as they bump an order, the POS sends a signal to the guest paging system. Our employees love the automatic operations flow. The ease of integration is why I chose LRS.”

Solution

“When I said I needed 150 pagers, I braced for sticker shock,” said Ostrow. “That wasn’t the case. Assuming we get longevity out of the system, which it sounds like we will, it’s very fair,” said Ostrow.

Results

In addition to improving operations, LRS pagers help to create a more relaxed movie-going atmosphere at District Theatres. “When you make food to order and rely on tickets with names or numbers to call out, people tend to hang about near the concession stand. The pagers make it easy on our guests and give them freedom to roam, which reduces needless traffic.”
